What is AskAlice?
AskAlice uses machine learning to predict subject matter rejections
under Alice v. CLS Bank. The service takes a patent claim
as input, and provides an AliceScore™, which can be interpreted
as a likelihood that the claim is eligible under 35 U.S.C. 101. We
provide a free, non-commercial version as well as a commerical
license.
What are the differences between the free and commercial version?
The free version is provided for non-commerical uses only. The free
version includes limited functionality. For example, the free
version relies on a single predictive model. While this model is
reasonably accurate, the commerical version relies on an ensemble of
multiple predicitve models for improved performance. To learn more
about the features available under the commerical license, please
contact us.
What exactly is an AliceScore™?
The AliceScore™ is a number between 0 and 100. The higher the
number, the more likely the claim is to be considered patent
eligible by a decision maker, such as a court or examiner at the
Patent Office. The score is based on the output of one or more
predictive models that are used to analyze the claim.
A high score does not guarantee eligibility; nor does a low score
guarantee ineligibility. The score is based on predictive models
that were trained on thousands of claims that were analyzed by
patent examiners. It is therefore useful to think of the score as
reflecting the judgement of the "hive mind" of the Patent Office,
complete with all of its imperfections and wrinkles.
Do we store the claims that are analyzed by AskAlice?
We do not log or otherwise persistently store the claims analyzed by the system.
How do I get access to the commercial version?
Please contact sales@lawtomata.com.
